Essays – how good is your readability ease ?

Its hard not to notice the lull. Understandably, its essay time.

Take the Flesch readability ease test for your essays.

Check it out at http://www.standards-schmandards.com/exhibits/rix/index.php

You are excellent if the score is > 40. (Harvard Business Review’s readability).

Readers’ Digest has a score of > 60. Legal documents score < 10.

I just checked that one of my ISB essays (River Zumba) scores only 24 :-( . However, the actual case question from ISB scores a 51 ! And if you look at my blog post where I’ve discussed that essay, it scores 52 !!!

Mind you, its just the reading ease that gets measured, and it doesn’t imply that a complex essay would necessarily be more uninteresting than one thats easy to read.

Good luck with the essays !

Hey..great link..tried my essays as well (drafts). Getting a score of around 40. I guess making things readable makes more sense than making them look jazzy…
